What's up, sunshine? From iron ladies toglobal conflicts, electric revolutionsto skate park transformations.
In 1979, history got a new headlineand a whole lot tougher.

MargaretThatcher became the first female primeminister of the United Kingdom, earningthe nickname the iron lady for herpersonal and political toughness.

Shedidn't just break barriers, shebulldozed them, becoming the first PM ofthe 20th century to win three straightterms.

During her first term, Thatcherled Britain through the Faulland's warin 1982, a conflict with Argentina, aterritorial dispute over the FaullandIslands.

She also built a powerfulpartnership with US President RonaldReagan, two leaders aligned in ideologyand influence during a tense cold warera.

But leadership at her level isnever without political controversy.

Thatcher cut government subsidies tobusinesses, which helped reshape theeconomy, but also led to risingunemployment.

She also introduced acontroversial pole tax, a move sodivisive that it led to rioting in thestreets and her eventual ouster as primeminister.

By 1990, after more than adecade in power, Thatcher was forced toresign following a leadership strugglewithin her own party.

Thatcher passedaway in 2013 at the age of 87.

But theiron lady's legacy lives on.

She pavedthe way for Terresa May and Liz Truss, who also became PMS, reaching Britain'shighest political office.

In the racefor the future of driving, one countrysays it can leave the US in its rearview mirror.

China's BYD, the world'slargest electric car company, says it'spushing ahead.

Even with US tariffs andrestrictions keeping its vehicleslargely off American roads.

But here'sthe twist.

From battery tech toaffordability, some experts say theremight be lessons worth watching fromoverseas.

Here's our Simone McCarthyfrom the Beijing Auto Show.

The Chinesecar manufacturer seems to have crackedthe code on producing affordablebatteries for electric vehicles and nowsells more EVs than any other company.

But thanks to Washington's heavyrestrictions on Chinese automakers, USconsumers won't be able to buy a BYDanytime soon.

Without the US market, BYDis still will be the leading position.

>> You're confident?>> Very confidence.

A quick look at thenumbers tells you why BYD feels sosecure.

It bested Tesla in global EVsales last year.

Even without access tothe world's largest economy, the USgovernment has effectively barredChinese EV makers from importing theircars into the country, eyeing theirexpansion as a threat to domesticproduction and national security.

BYDneeds its overseas growth to offsetfierce competition in its home market.

BYD, right? They were flying up until2024 and then 25 so far this year, they've had a lot of pressure.

>> The company reported its first annualprofit drop in 4 years in 2025 amid abrutal price war and its net profit morethan have yearon-year in the firstquarter of 2026.

Its answer to driving forward tech, including super fast charging.

Batteriesthat can charge from 20% to 97% in 12minutes, even in cold temperatures.

BYD is also racing car makers globallyto develop more advanced assisteddriving systems and investing inhardware and software to roll that out.

>> This will make us more powerful in thefuture when the AI more mature.

10 second trivia.

What early virtualreality technology included smells andwind effects? Oculus Rift, Sensorama,PlayStation VR, or smell vision?Sensorama.

Ding ding.

Built in the1950s, the Sensorama was a large arcadestyle machine you sat inside.

Cool, buta far cry away from the CGI andimmersive technology used in movies, video games, and even the news.

Welcometo CNN World Headquarters here inAtlanta, Georgia.

This is Studio G,where I host CNN World Sport.

We've gotyou covered.

I'm Koi Wire.

This is WorldSport.

30 minutes of moments that makejaws drop and hearts race.

Prettysnazzy, right? Well, if you haven'tnoticed, there's a secret.

I'm actuallystanding in a TV studio that's green.

Everything around me, the walls, thelights, the motion, even the screens arecreated by a powerful computer systemrunning something called Unreal Engine.

The same kind of technology used to makevideo games.

Listen, before I ever stepon set, a team designs a digital sportsworld.

Kind of like creating a level ofa video game.

They design backgrounds, lighting, video screens, and animations.

All of that lives inside the computer.

The cameras filming me don't just recordvideo.

They also send information to thecomputer where the camera is, how itmoves, when it zooms or pans.

So whenthe camera moves, the virtual backgroundmoves with it, making it feel real.

That's why it looks like I'm actuallyinside the scene.

And behind the scenes, operators use real buttons, notkeyboards, to control everything.

Onebutton might change the background, switch the lighting, bring up a graphic,or move us to an entirely new locationin this enormous room.

It all happenslive while I'm talking to you.

My job,focus on the story.

The computer isupdating the scene.

The cameras andgraphics are staying perfectly in sync.

If everything works out right, you don'teven notice the technology, just thestory.

So, my job is fairly easycompared to the rest of my team.

Themain thing is I have to remember neverwear green.

Anything green will display whatever thecomputer is putting out.

So if I'mwearing a green suit or a shirt orbodysuit, this is what we get.

Prettycool.

Oh man.

Woo.

I'm the head of my class.

So whenI'm long and gone someday and some ofyou come to take my job, remember, neverwear green.

Speaking of long and gone, see you.

Today's story getting a 10 out of 10 isflipping expectations literally.

A groupof skaters in Bristol, England iswheelie taking advantage of unusedspaces, transforming them into somethingtotally rad.

Campus skateboarding is anorganization carving out communityspaces through skateboard culture.

Theyhave three venues, including a formerswimming pool and now this abandonedmall that is scheduled to be demolished.

The skate park's founders say thistemporary space lets them connect andget creative.

>> When else are you going to get a chanceto a skateboard in an old departmentstore, but then b actually skate whatwas an escalator.

I mean, I don't thinkthat exists anywhere in the world.

>> Aside from kick flipping, you can playpool and table tennis.

Basically, it's aplace you'll never uh get bored of.

Allright, young Jedi.
